Prairies, steppes, pampas, downs are the major temperate grasslands. These are vast flat and undulating slopes. Since the grasses covered these lands for a long time, the land has become fertile due to presence of humus. Further, some of these grasslands are made by glaciers. The soil of these grasslands automatically renewed. So, a large amount of wheat can be grown in these grasslands by using machines. Temperate grassland has nutritious grasses. A big number of animals can be reared here at commercial scale. The manure of such animals can also be used in farms. It helps to increase the production of wheat. Therefore, temperate grassland is good for animal rearing and wheat farming.
Argentina shares most part of pampas grassland. So, a big number of animals are reared here for meat. Such animals are slaughtered near the port and some portion of meat is processed. The ship with large refrigerator takes such processed and raw meat to Europe. Australia has several sheep farms in temperate and tropical grasslands. Most of the sheep are reared for wool. The sheep are reared in dry and airy areas. Hence, they yield valuable wool. Australia has small population. Therefore, almost all the wool is exported to other countries except little portion that is kept for domestic use.
