The Himalayan Yew
The local name/common name of the Himalayan yew is lauth salla and the scientific name is Taxus Wallichaina. This is a perennial tree of pine species. It remains evergreen with pointed, thin, and comb-like leaves. It is listed along with the rare plants of Nepal and banned for export. It is found to make furniture. Its leaf is used to prepare medicine for earlier stages of cancer.
Yarchagumba (Cordyceps)
Yarchagumba is a seasonal fungi plant, which grows on the back of a specific species of caterpillar. As the cordyceps grow on the back of the caterpillar, people think that it is a half-plant and half-animal creature. The unauthorized collection and export of cordyceps have been legally banned in Nepal as it has been listed as a rare plant. It is found at an altitude of about 3000-4200 meters from sea level. It is an effective energetic plant. It is used in the treatment of weakness infirmities and sexual impotence.
Thulo Dhanesh (Giant pied Hornbill)
Thulo Dhanes is listed in the list of rate birds in Nepal. It is an omnivore bird. It preys on insects, small vertebrates, and fruits. It is hunted and killed illegally by poachers and hunters because its bone and fat are used for medical uses. Its main habitat is tropical deciduous Terai forests.
Ajingar (Asiatic Rock Python)
Ajingar is the largest reptile in the world. It is nonpoisonous with a huge and long body structure. It is listed in the list of rate reptiles of Nepal. It is a carnivore reptile. It preys upon young and small vertebrates of the forest. It is hunted and killed illegally by poachers and hunters for its skin to make bags and belts.
