Television: Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages of Television
Television has been proved as one of the biggest human inventions. It has really transformed society by providing us sources of information, entertaining and updating us with the latest news channels. Much like the internet, television is a fantastic and quick source of information. Thus, the advantage of having a television is that we can take new information quickly, learn about things we wouldn't have learned about. Through television, we can learn about distant lands and their current issues. It allows us to become much more aware of global issues. Thanks to those imported shows for broadcasting live. This has allowed the people to learn about unfamiliar lands, and other nationalities to learn about our culture. The distant learning has been very helpful to students in this pandemic which is made possible by the television. But of course, television has its disadvantages too.
Disadvantages of Television
One of the disadvantages is its hypnotizing feature. It forces children and adults to indulge in entertaining shows. Although TV programs are there to be enjoyed, they can drain productivity time efforts. We essentially waste time on needless entertainment. The leisure we neither have nor spent responsibly. The worst is the thing that we don't become aware of the fact that we kill our productive time watching television.
Conclusion
Since television can't be totally curbed, we need to think of making a perfect balance between our leisure time and the TV set. Again, we should watch TV not by indulging in some entertaining shows but by watching it for information. Basically, the children should be kept far from television because they can't be creative watching it. Instead of TV, children should be given books and magazines. This broadens their thinking faculties.
