Kyoto protocol was launched on December 11, 1997. But up to 2008, 36 developed and 137 developing countries had adopted this protocol. The main objective of this protocol is to control change in weather and release of artificial green house gases. This saves the earth from global warming.
According to this protocol, Developed countries should reduce green house gases by 5.25% as was in 1990 within 2008 to 2012. It is also called first commitment period.
