Axon
Axon is the structure processed from the cell body. It is a single long fiber which carries message from the cell body.
Many axons are insulated with a fatty substance called myelin. Myelin helps axons to conduct an electrical signal. Neurons generally have one main axon. The axon usually conducts impulses away.
Dendrite
Each neuron has a cell body with a central nucleus and two single long fiber. The two single fiber of neuron is called dendrite.
The dendrites carry message toward the body. Dendrites are specialized extensions of the cell body. They function to obtain information from other cells and carry that information to the cell body. Many neurons also have an axon, which carries information from the soma to other cells, but many small cells do not.
