Reasons why eastern region of the USA and Canada is more developed than the western region. 

• Rocky mountain is stretched from Alaska in the north to Panama in Canal in the south of the western part of North America. Most of the land is covered with forest, deserts and volcano prone zone. Therefore, this region is not suitable for human settlement. Moreover, most of the western regions are in distance from the sea due to which even the climate here is hot and dry. 
• Eastern region is more developed than the western region. The eastern region is on the coast of Atlantic Ocean. This is considered very ideal climate for human settlement.This region is famous for fishing in the world. There is a good facility of the sea trade. This region is considered suitable for production and processing of minerals, production of industrial goods, trade activities etc. There is a god development of infrastructure and good prospect of employment. Therefore Washington DC, New York, Florida, Boston, Philadelphia, etc are considered developed cities not only in North America but also in the world.
