Is Nepal successful or unsuccessful in attaining Millennium Development Goals? Present your arguments.
1 Answer
Nepal is partially successful in attaining Millennium Development Goals. My evaluation is presented in the table below:
S.N. | Area of success | Area of failure |
1. | Millennium development Goals seem to have been achieved to some extent in reducing poverty due to foreign employment, extension of infrastructures and education development. | It seems unsuccessful in making infrastructures of development of quality, durable and strong type. |
2. | It is found the Maternal and Child Mortality Rate too has decreased due to growth in public awareness, expansion of free health services and vaccinations against several diseases. | It does not seem successful in providing safe housing and basic services to the people. |
3. | It has been successful to provide free primary and secondary education. | It has failed in the goal of conserving ecosystem due to increasing deforestation and pollution. |
4. | Energy crisis has been reduced to some extent due to hydroelectricity generation, use of solar energy, bio gas, etc. | Nepal's Millennium Development Goals has failed to control corruption. |
