Geographical, economic and social aspect of province No.1

Geographical Environment :

Province No.1 has all the three geographical regions. i.e. mountain/ hill and terai of Nepal. It's area is about 17.60%. there re 14 districts in this province. World famous mountains like Mt. Everest (world's highest). Mt. Kanchanjungha (world's 3rd highest), etc. also lie in the province. The hot and wet terai has evergreen forest. Hilly region with monsoon climate forest and mountain region with cold climate has coniferous forest.

Socio-economic condition:

The terai is inhbited by Satar, Rajbansi, dhimal, Brahmin, Chhetri, etc. Rai, Limbu live in the hill and Sherpa and Bhote in the mountain. There is good production of food and cash crops like paddy, maize, wheat, jute, etc. similarly tea, cardamom, millet, fruits are cultivated in the hill while potato and medicinal herbs are cultivated in mountains. People in the mountain are involved mostly in mountaineering and animal husbandry. Biratnagar, Dhankuta, Ilam, Ithari, Inrauwa, Duhabi , etc are the industrial sites.
