How do you evaluate the Delhi Agreement of 2007?
1 Answer
Delhi agreement was concluded on 1st Falgun,2007, BS in New Delhi of India to establish democracy by ending the rana rule. This agreement was held between the king Tribhuvan, the ranas and the Nepali congress.
- In my opinion the internal affairs was to be settled inside the country. Because foreign intervention seems to have increased after this agreement due to the help asked to the foreign country to settle our internal affairs.
- I agree with the declaration of democracy based on Delhi agreement. But i am totally against the involvement of 5 representatives of the Ranas in the interim government formed after the declaration of democracy with Mohan shumsher as the prime minister. Because how could it be said the end of rana rule when the rana became the prime minister?
- I liked other conditions of Delhi agreement like ending the armed revolution, giving general amnesty to all the political prisoners, holding the election of constituent assembly to draft a democratic constitution, handling over the weapons to the government, etc.
