The movement launched to establish loktantra by ending the direct rule of king Gyanendra in Nepal in the year 2062/063 is popularly known as people's movement-II. The causes of this movement are listed below:
- Then king Gyanendra seized all the state power through royal coup on 19th of Magh, 2061, BS.
- Some important fundamental rights and freedom of the people were banned.
- 12 point agreement was held between the seven party alliance and CPN to launch movement against the illegal step of the king.
- Thousands of people were in favor of this movement.
- Monarchy being removed from most of the countries in the world and its effects in Nepal.
