The parliament implemented consumers protection act on 1st Baisakh 2055 BS in Nepal. Even though, It's been almost two decades, since the act was issued. But, it does not seem to have remarkable achievement. Some of the evidences are presented below:

  • Low quality and date expired goods can be seen for sale still in Nepali market.
  • The price of same good differs from shop to shop.
  • The maximum retail price of all the goods is not mentioned by the producer. So, the shopkeepers keep the price tag of their own wish.
  • Despite the sale of goods with harmful color, chemical, rotten goods, sweets, fruits etc openly in market, concerned authority does nothing.
  • The sale of gas, rice, cement, iron, flour etc with less weight is found everywhere.
  • Private schools, collages and hospitals have been charging a huge amount of fees violating the law.
