Why alloys of constantan and manganin used to make standard resistors?
1 Answer
The temperature coefficient of resistance for constantan and manganin is very small and they have high resistance. This means that there is a negligible change in the resistance due to moderate changes in the temperature.
Also, the melting points of these alloys are high and do not melt at high temperatures. Due to these reasons, the alloys of constantan and manganin are used to make standard resistors.
