Since the image of object formed in front of the retina , the defect of an eye is short sighted ness myopia. 

To correct such defect , we use concave lens , and the corrected ray diagram is as given below. 

here , the f = -5-0 cm 

= -0.5 m 

power of lens p = ? 

by the formula, 

p = 1/f 

p = 1/-0.5 

p = -2 D
