We can say that free fall is the cause and weightlessness is the effect. Free fall is the condition of body falling freely towards the earth's surface without any external resistance but weightlessness is the condition of having the weight of a body zero. During free fall the weight of the body is zero.

The difference between freefall and weightlessness are as follows:

SN Free Fall Weightlessness
1. If a body is falling freely under the action of gravity without any external resistance, then it is said to have free fall. Weightlessness may be defined as the state or condition of a body of zero weight or feeling itself to be weightless.
2. Falling of objects in space inside the vacuum. When a body is at the center of the earth or in the space at the null point.
