What are the two factors which does not affect the upthrust of the liquid.

1 Answer

The two factors which does not affect upthrust of the liquid are :

  • amount of liquid
  • shape of vessel in which liquid is taken

Factors affecting the Upthrust
  • The magnitude of upthrust on a body due to a liquid depends on: Volume of the body submerged in the liquid (or fluid). Density of the liquid (or fluid) in which the body is submerged.
  • Magnitude of upthrust = FB = Volume of body submerged in liquid × density of liquid. This is because the upthrust depends only on the DIFFERENCE between the forces on the top and bottom of the object. If the upthrust on the object is bigger than its weight the object rises, some of it comes out of the water until the upthrust is equal to its weight and the object floats.

BUT

Pressure variations in a fluid are typically caused by gravity (sinceP = P0 + ρgh), but in general buoyant forces act opposite the direction of the frame of reference acceleration. Under conditions of apparent weightlessness there can be no buoyant forces. When a body is partly or totally immersed in a fluid there is an upthrust that is equal to the weight of fluid displaced. Upthrust = apparent loss of weight of object = weight in air - weight in liquid.

The effect of upthrust is that weight of the body immersed in a liquid appears to be less than its actual weight. There are two factors on which upthrust depends - Volume of the body and Density of the Liquid. Larger the volume of body submerged in liquid, greater is the upthrust.Upwards forces from water or air are called upthrust. Things float in water because of upthrust. ... They are called non- contact forces.
