Two identical rectangular strips, one of copper and other of steel, are riveted together to form a bimetallic strip (αcopper > αsteel). On heating, the strip will
- remain straight
- bend with copper on convex side
- bend with steel on convex side
- get twisted
1 Answer
Correct option B
Because the linear expansion of copper is greater then of the steel under same temperature, the length of copper increases faster than of steel causing steel to curve in concave side or causing copper itself to bend on convex side.
