The earth having the mass 6x1024 Kg revolves around the sun of mass 2x1030 Kg in a circular orbit of radius 1.5x1011 m. Calculate the force of attraction between them (G = 6.67x10-11 Nm2/Kg2).

1 Answer

Here,

Mass of the sun (m1) = 2x1030kg

Mass of the earth (m2) = 6x1024kg

Distance between the centeres of the earth and the sun (d) = 1.5 x 1011m

Force of attraction (F) = ?

According to the newtons law of gravitation,

\(F=\frac{G\times m_1\times m_2}{d^2}\)

\(=\frac{6.67\times10^{-11}\times2\times10^{30}\times6\times10^{34}}{{(1.5\times10^{11})}^2}\)

\(=3.56\times10^{22}N\)

Hence the force of attraction between the sun and the earth is \(=3.56\times10^{22}N\)
