A hunter aims at a monkey sitting onĀ a tree at a considerable distance. At the instant he fires at it, the monkey drops. Will the bullet hit the monkey?
- No
- Yes
- Sometimes
- Never
1 Answer
Correct option B
Yes, the bullet will hit the monkey if monkey happens to drop. Here are two things to note.
- The bullet doesn't travel in straight line because of downward acting gravitational force the bullet travels in projectile motion.
- Considering monkey and shooter were at same height, time taken to fall to the ground is exactly same for both. Time taken to reach is independent of horizontal velocity.
Note: If monkey does not drop at the time of firing the bullet, the bullet will not hit the monkey.
