The amount of matter contained in a body is called the mass of the body. It is a scalar quantity because the mass doesn't represent any direction. It remains same everywhere in the universe. Its SI unit is kilogram (Kg). Mass can also be thought as quantitative measure inertia of a body and is a fundamental property of a body.
