Human rights are basic rights that all people in all countries have. There are rights in every aspect of life. There are

  • civil and political rights
  • economic rights
  • social and cultural rights
  • children rights
  • woman rights

All living person has rights. They have the right to life. Human rights make sure that people are not discriminated based on their genders, color, religion, belief, property, language, caste. Our country, Nepal provides all citizen their human right to vote, freedom and speech.

People must get right to work, right to food, shelter, medical care and equal pay all around the world. Many countries and people have adopted to international human rights and some are slowly leaning into it. The right to property, owning land, marriage, belief and religion are very important in a persons life. Children and Women have rights according to their need apart from the basic human rights.

In Nepal the violation of human rights has been reaching very high because of political instability and chaos in the country. The major violation of human rights that Nepal experience was when the Maoist part was in protest against the king and monarchy for 10 years. The Maoist party was accused of unlawful killing, torture, violation of property. At that time even army and forces of the country were scrutinized internationally for disappearance of people, torture, arrest and obstruction of court and human right investigation.

This has been long gone now and the country is much better but the political instability is still present. This makes the human rights violation and injustice much more easier. The discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, gender, ethnicity and sexuality has reduced but is not uncommon in the society. There is high prevalence of domestic violence, forced labor, forced prostitution in our country which are against the human rights laws. The main issue is the unawareness.

Nepal's literacy and education rate is improving but there are still many who are unaware about their rights. This makes the violation of human rights much easier. As the victims do not know what to do . Government should enforce and spread awareness about human rights. People should be aware about what their rights are and what can they do to protect or defend their rights. Everyone should understand the concept of equality and not be afraid to practice their rights in their country.

Human rights in Nepal is much better than in past but still requires a long road for equality and brotherhood development.
