Breastfeeding is important not only for the small baby but also for a mother. Breastfeeding protects the newborn babies from many diseases. Mother also benefits from breastfeeding as the body of mother post pregnancy requires healing. Early breast milk soon after pregnancy and baby is born is considered to be liquid gold. The color of the first milk is yellow, it is called colostrum. It is thick  and yellowish in color and is very rich in nutrients and antibodies to protect baby which have just entered into world from safety of mothers womb. 

Breast milk is easier to digest for the new born. Breast milk fights diseases, cells, hormones, antibodies in it protect baby from illness like no other medicine. The protection that the baby get from breast milk is rare and not found in man made medicine. 

None of the formula found in the market for the baby matches the chemical in breast milk. In fact , the babies which are given formula and not breast milk are found to have ear infection, diarrhea. Breast feeding can save money for the mothers as baby materials are very expensive. Physical contact is very important for babies well being. It helps babies feel more secure, warm and comfortable. Mothers too benefit from the physical touch with the baby during breastfeeding.

Breast feeding requires mother and child to take some quiet time together. Skin to skin contact between mother and baby has been seen to increase a hormone Oxycontin in mothers. This hormone helps mother to relax, calm down and improves milk flow. Breast feeding is linked to lower risks of diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer in mother. Breastfeeding mother have been seen to miss fewer days of work because their infants are sick less often. 

Medical cost are lower for fully breastfed infants than never breast fed infants in future. Breastfed babies are seen to be rarely getting sick. It also protects the babies from contaminated water supply.
