Write an essay on interesting event in my life. – Essay

When I was studying in class 9, an interesting event happened to me. I never had my own, brand new clothes and watch. Since, I was the youngest sibling in my family , I would always end up getting hand me downs. And as any 9th grader , we all know how much we hate those. One day my brother came to me and gave me this huge packet wrapped up in a shiny new wrapping paper. I was surprised and very curious about what it might be . He told me that I will only get it if I keep that packet in our room the whole night and open it only in the morning.

I was very excited to see what was inside it,  nevertheless  I persevered. Early in the morning I was so excited and took he packet to my brother. He asked me " Any guesses ? "  I kept guessing but I could not get it correct. Finally, I gave up and to my surprise it had brand new clothes and watch. When my brother said it's for me and I passed his test of patience . I was thrilled. 

I wore the clothes to my school on my brothers insistence. I felt very shy and nervous. It was nothing like I imagined, I always thought new clothes and fancy things would make me more confident. Rather to my surprise it made me feel just shy. My friends were happy to see all my clothes and congratulated me. Some mean kids teased me too but I was alright because everyone has mean people in their life. We must not pay attention to mean things. 

The day was going great, when suddenly even more interesting event happened. This I had not even imagined in my dreams to come true. The most popular girl in the school, my crush came and spoke to me. She said she always wanted to talk to me. I was so excited but then I realized it wasn't true as she would never talk to me when I had tried to talk to her in past.

I rushed over to my friend to tell them that the most popular girl in school would hangout with us . My friends were delighted and so was I. We all went to sit with her in the lunch break but to my surprise she insulted my friends for not being good enough and instead told me to leave them and sit with her. I was in shock but I understood why this girl was talking to me. I realized it was because of my new clothes. I was disgusted by the same very girl I always wanted to talk and be friends with. I was puzzled at how  a person can be selfish and superficial . I went back to my friends and thank god will never be talking to that girl again. 

Thinking about it now, it was a very eventful day but the most interesting event was how often people can forget real things that matter and end up chasing superficial material things.
