Which layer of the earth is called ionosphere and why?
1 Answer
Thermosphere layer of the earth is called ionosphere because most of the ions are produced in the lower parts of it due to radiation falling from the sun.
Ionosphere is a very active part of the atmosphere as it grows and shrinks depending on the energy it absorbs from the sun. The name ionosphere comes from the fact that gases in these layer react to solar radiations from the ions which have electrical charges.
