What are the sources of air pollution?

There are two types of sources of air pollution. They are:

1. Natural Sources: The sources of pollution which originate directly from nature are called natural sources of air pollution. For example: volcanic eruption, forest fire, soil erosion, vapour released from plants, etc.
2. Artificial Sources: The sources of pollution which are not naturally made but are caused due to human activities are called artificial sources of air pollution. For example: carbon dioxide (CO₂), Nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), Nitrogen oxide (NO), sulphur dioxide (SO₂) Ammonia (NH_3), waste from vehicles, gases from coal operated power plants, etc.
