First green plant was evolved in Paleozoic era of Silurian period.
The zosterphylls were one of the most important plants that grew in the late Silurian period because they were much more complex than any rhyniophytes present in the era. These group of plants were recognizable by their kidney shaped sporangia which grew short lateral branches close to the main axes. This first vascularised enations occurred in a fossil club-moss known as Baragwanathia that had already appeared in the fossil record in the late Silurian.
