It is found that economic development is slow where the population is increasing at a faster rate. According to the geographical condition, available means, and resources, productivity rate, and available cultivable land, the population growth rate is a great problem. Population problem means the trouble of fulfilling the basic needs like housing, food, clothes. Thus, the rapid population growth directly affects the economic, social, and environmental development of a country.
In context of Nepal, the socio-economic effects of rapid population growth can be studied under the headings of health, education, culture, employment, the supply of drinking water, food grain, housing, clothing, security, and entertainment. Due to the speedy population swelling in Nepal, hospitals and health service centers have become crowded and people are facing difficult ambiance to get proper treatment even in emergency situations. Schools are not accomodating students comfortable in crowded areas. There is unhealthy and unfair competition in job opportunities and industrial sectors. Adverse cultural influence on the indigenous culture and tradition has become a server social issue of our society. It is all due to those people who are in-migrated into Nepal with foreign cultures and practrices.
