Last year, we planned to have educational tour to educational and historical place of Nepal. Our principle let our class research and find a place for this tour. The whole class had to pick at least two places each. We conducted fun voting system for the selection of places in class and Lumbini won with majority of votes.
It was very interesting and fun. Lumbini is huge and the most famous place in world for buddhist devotees. We all were delighted to go there because its not only a religiously famous place it also has a great historical importance. Many tourist come to Nepal , just to visit Lumbini. Lumbini is the birth place of lord Buddha. He was born here more than 2500 years ago.
We, the students of grade 10 of Jana higher secondary school had been just upgraded to grade 10. As the senior most and passing out batch of our school we got to go that year. We were in total 26 students and two teachers who supervised the trip. We are from surkhet, so we took the bus early in the morning around 4 a.m and reached Lumbini by evening. We got to have morning breakfast on the road in famous nepali dishes places. We went to butwal and stayed there for the day as Lumbini closes at 6 p.m. We roamed around in butwal were we ate the famous chaats and sweets of butwal. Next morning we left by 7 a.m for Lumbini, as Lumbini is 40 mins from butwal and it is huge. Lumbini is the name f whole zone we particularly went to kapilvastu district of the western terai region. The kapilvastu was kingdom of lord Siddhartha buddha before he got his enlightenment in Gaya and became The Buddha.
There were many stupas, chaitya and religious building made by each country in the world who follow buddhism. The ashok pillar was placed in front of Maya Devi temple. It was marvelous. The maya devi temple had many places under the trees and open grounds for meditation. We were allowed to inspect freely by our teachers. Many of us roamed around, saw the old remains of temple , meditated , sat beside the lake. The Maya Devi temple even had first footstep of lord Buddha.
We took notes and pictures on fact and history. As it was time of autumn there was no problem of heat and mosquitoes. Our teachers said it was the perfect time to visit Lumbini. We also got to ride on rickshaw and see all the monastries. We spent the whole day looking at all monastries but the best was World peace pagoda and the never ending ligth that has eternal fame. The trip was magnificient and we all were still excited when we left. The roads in Terai was smooth and green land as far as we could see. Ireally enjoyed my trip.
