Initially, the resistance of the wire is small, and a large current flows. After some time the wire gets heated as a result, the resistance being temperature-dependent, \(R_2=R_1\left(1+\alpha\triangle\theta\right)\) increases, and hence, current decreases. Due to this reason, electric bulbs nearly always burn out just as we turn on the light, but almost never while the light is shining.
