The difference between fundamental units and the derived units are as follows:

SN Fundamental Units Derived Units
1. Fundamental units do not depend upon any other units. So, they are also called independent or basic units Derived units are dependent on other fundamental units. So, they are also called dependent units.
2. There are only seven fundamental units so far. For example, meter, kilogram, second, etc. There are large numbers of derived units. For example, m/s, m/s2,
