There are different forms of energy such as mechanical energy, light energy, sound energy, electrical energy, and so on
Mechanical energy is of two types a) Kinetic energy, and b) Potential energy.
We get energy in different ways like:
- heat and light energy from the sun
- kinetic energy from wind and running water
- magnetic energy from a magnet, etc

Food: Food contains chemical energy. When eaten, it is broken into different molecules of protein, minerals, and carbohydrates. The chemicals undergo various reactions and provide other forms of energy in the body.
Magnet: A magnet contains magnetic energy. Magnetic energy can be further be transformed into kinetic energy, potential energy, electrical energy, etc.
A stone at height: A stone at height contains potential energy. Its energy can be calculated using the stone's mass and height. This energy can be transformed into kinetic energy.
Fuel: Fuel also contains chemical energy. When burnt it can be further transformed into heat energy, light energy, and mechanical energy.
Moving vehicle: A moving vehicle contains kinetic energy which can be calculated using the mass of the vehicle and the speed of the vehicle at a given instant.
Sun: Sun is the main source of energy in our solar system. Life on earth would not be possible without the light and heat energy coming from the sun. Sunlight is also responsible for chemical energy via photosynthesis in plants.
