The act of dividing the nation into the center (Federation), province and local level based on the new concept of federal ruling system by dissolving the existing structure is called state Restructure. It also refers to the political reformation of the country to make the state more democratic.
The Constitution of Nepal 2072 has divided the main administrative structure in to the following three types:
- Center ( Federation)
- Province
- Local Level
The name, introduction and functions of each of them have been presented below in a table.

Federation (Center) |
Federation means federal government. It is also called central government. It supports directs all the provinces of the country. President , Prime minister and main government bodies are under the federation. So it is also known as Government of Nepal. |

Province | The states divided according to the federal ruling system are called provinces our country is divided into seven provinces. Every state will have provincial Assembly, council of Ministers and Independent Judiciary. There is provision of total 550 members in all the seven provincial assemblies of Nepal. |

Local Level | Rural Municipality, Municipality and district are considered as local government, village Assembly, Municipal Assembly and District Assembly are formed under this. |
