The health-related objectives of the current development plan of Nepal plan include the following main objectives:
- Gradual change with the promotion of health posts into primary health centers and sub healths post into health posts on the basis of population density demand of health services will be made.
- Basic health services will be made available as a fundamental human right.
- Emphasis will be given to promoting the health status of socially and economically disadvantaged and marginalized groups.
- Provision for management of free beds in government and private hospitals.
- Priority will be given to health infrastructure like buildings, skilled manpower, provision of basic services and medication, etc.
- Preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative health services will be explained throughout the nation.
- Urban health programs and elderly people health programs will be initiated.
- Assistance to non-governmental organizations will be continued for national health movements like nationwide eye camp services.
