Activities of the UNO:
- United Nations organization is considered as a common organization of all the member countries. UN's declaration has mentioned that all the countries have equal rights. But the Veto power which can be exercised only by the 5 permanent members of the security council seems to have proved that above mentioned provision wrong.
- To establish world peace, to control terrorism and to restrict the production of nuclear weapons, etc have been mentioned as the main objectives of the UNO. However, the fear of terrorism is increasing day by day in the world. The debate between North Korea and the USA regarding the test of nuclear weapons seems to give the symptom of third world war.
- Problems like disease, starvation poverty, refugee, climate change, etc are increasing world wide. The incidents of violation of human rights are rapidly increasing rather than decreasing. Such problems seem to be challenging the objectives of the UNO.
- There is clear American dominance over the activities of the UNO. No country listens the voice of small and poor nations. But nobody goes beyond the voice of rich and powerful nations.
These all incidents create a doubt whether UNO is a common organization of all the countries or not.
