The effect of gravitation is more in liquid than on solid because inter molecular force of attraction is less in liquid and it is weak than that of solid.
Gravitation attracts masses as explained by universal law of Newton's. The force between object is directly proportional to the masses of the objects. Since, in liquid the molecules move quickly and move out of the way of each other constantly the force between the molecules itself is displaced constantly , resulting in weak force . Whereas in solid the molecule are densely packed together an the inter molecular forces are constantly acting upon one another, this results in higher forces.
