How does industrial gases cause acid rain?
The different harmful gases like CO2,SO2, NO2 etc. released from the industries are called industrial gases. When such industrial gases like CO2, SO2, NO2 etc. released in the atmosphere, it reacts with moisture present there and form their corresponding acids like H2CO3, HNO3 etc. and fall along with rain called acid rain.
Reaction:
2SO2 + O2 = 2SO3
SO3 + H2O = H2SO4
CO2+ H2O = H2CO3
4NO2 + 2H2O + O2 = 4 HNO3
