The following are the steps to evaluate the dimensional formula for any given expression:

- First, write any
**physical formula involving**a given physical quantity. For example,**Force**

**F = m.a**

- Break down the physical quantities (in RHS) until base (fundamental) quantities are obtained.

i.e., \(F=m\times\frac vt=m\frac l{t\times t}\)

- Finally, write the dimensional formula of each physical quantity in the expression.

i.e., Dimensional formula of force = \(\frac{\lbrack M\rbrack\lbrack L\rbrack}{\lbrack T\rbrack\lbrack T\rbrack}=\left[MLT^{-2}\right]\)
