Yes, I agree that there has been deformity in celebrating festivals. Nepal is the land of festivals and is rich in culture and tradition. But these days they have been showy and out of track in celebrating the festival. Some Hindus people celebrate Gaura in our community.
In Gaura festival, local people from their community culturally perform the wedding ceremony of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati according to hindu traditions. Women stay fasting, clean their houses and take baths to purify themselves. They was the mixture of grains and make Biruda.
After six day of observing the festival, women again was the Biruda in pure water. They gather around the Tulsi Matha and do the Balu Puja. On the seventh day people along with musical instrument go to their fields and take some paddy plant. The plants are wrapped up in a silk cloth which is regarded as the Gaura. With the musical procession, People bring this Gaura into the house of Mukhiya where the pooja takes place. Everybody performs pooja. This marriage between Shiva and Gaura almost finishes in this day.
The eight day is the most important day of the festival. On, this day people worship Dubo and they wear sacred thread, which is called "Dubo Dhago" . Inthis evening Biruda is fried in ghee and given to the people present there as prasad. They sing different cultural and religious songs in the honour of lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. At night, women particularly elderly on in the house worship the male members of the family in hope of their god health and prosperity.
Next morning singing song of Gaura to river and emersion ceremony takes place. Inthis festival the women who get chance to perform the Gaura pooja, are regarded as religious and sucessful women. It is believed that their families will always remain happy, healthy and prosperous.
