The different between acid and base are given below:

S.N Acid S.N Base
1. Acid is the substance when dissolved in water, increases the concentration of H+ ions. 1. The base is the substance when dissolved in water, increase the concentration of OH- ions.
2. Acids are the proton donor. 2. Base are the electron pair donor.
3. Turns blue litmus paper to red. 3. Turns red litmus paper to blue.
4. Acids dissociate to give free hydrogen ions (H+) after mixing in water. 4. Bases dissociate to give free hydroxide ions (OH-) after mixing in water.
5. Hydrochloric acid (HCl), Sulphuric acid (H2SO4), Nitric acid (HNO3), Carbonic acid (H2CO3). 5. Ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH), Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), Sodium hydroxide (NaOH).
