The Mountain region lies in the northern part of the country. It includes about 35% of the total land. Its altitude ranges from 4877 to 8848 meters from sea level. It has the highest mountain Mt. Everest in the Solukhumbu district and many other mountains including Kumbhakarna, Mahalangur, Ganesh, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Api, Nampa, Paypal, etc. It has many mountains covered with snow in the northern part. The snow line is an altitude of 4000 meters in the west and 5000 meters in the east. It has a very steep and rocky land structure that causes problems in transportation. There is a very cold temperature. It includes 16 districts all together including Solukhumbu, Taplejung, Mustang, Dolpa, Dolakha, Darchula. Other districts situated in this region are Rasuwa, Humla, Manag, Mugu, Shankhuwasabha, Sindhuplachowk, Jumla, Kalikot, Bajura, and Bajhang. The land structure contains more rocks comparatively. The Mountain region divided into three sub-region.

This region contains a number of deep and narrow gorges plains and valleys with slightly less cold temperature plains.
