There is great possibility that Nepal can export hydroelectricity and earn foreign currency but it is not that much easy and beneficial. The reasons of this are presented below:
- Our electricity can be exported only to India. There is no possibility to export to other countries. India wants to import electricity from Nepal in cheap price. While there will have already been more expenses in producing and exporting electricity. So, Nepal will have a loss exporting electricity at cheap price rather than profit. Bhutan is earning a lot by exporting electricity at cheap price rather than investment to generate electricity there is made by India itself. But it is not possible in Nepal to do so due to political conflict and foreign interference.
- On the other hand, electricity is generated not for sale. So, it should be used to lighten their places of our own country, to conduct trade and business, to utilize in the development of health, education and communication, to facilitate household activities, to create employment opportunities by utilizing it, etc.
