"Agriculture is the art and science of growing plants and other crops and raising animals for food, other human needs, or economic gain." Agriculture as an industry encompasses farmers themselves: the people who work in the field of agriculture. Agriculture includes farming in all branches and, among other things, includes the cultivation and tillage of the soil, dairying, the production, cultivation, growing, and harvesting of any agricultural and horticultural commodities, the raising of livestock or poultry, and any practices performed by a farmer on a farm as an incident to or in conjunction with such farming operations, but does not include the manufacturing or processing of sugar, coconuts, abaca, tobacco, pineapple or other farm products.
Nepal is an agricultural country. About 66% population in the country are involved in agriculture. The people living in the rural areas of the country are directly involved agriculture; making it a source of livelihood for them. 36% of gross domestic product is occupied by the agricultural sector. There is an important role in the agricultural sector in the economic development of the country. Goods that are used in daily life are obtained from the agriculture sector.
